BETHANY PICKENS began keyboard training under the tutelage of her father, world-class jazz pianist Willie Pickens. She has composed music for commercials, theater, and film and has recorded with such artists as Ray Brown, Branford Marsalis, Von Freeman, Clark Terry, and Dee Dee Bridgewater. Of her performance at the 2008 Heritage JazzFest, Howard Reich wrote, “She wasn’t billed as the main attraction, but she deserved to be, judging by her breakthrough performance.” In 2010, Bethany played and conducted a Millennium Park concert in honor of Mary Lou Williams. Her debut CD is entitled Bethany. She will perform with JUNIUS PAUL on acoustic bass and CHARLES HEATH on drums.
