Dana Hall’s spring

7:00–8:00pm | International House

spring. Formed by drummer, DANA HALL (see RHYTHMS OF THUNDER), spring has a mission “to explore new and original music in new and original ways.” The concept evolved out of Dana’s interest in “such musical innovators as John Carter, Ornette Coleman, Jimmy Giuffre, and John Zorn, as well as . . . the AACM, and musics [sic] of the African Diaspora.” From these elements, the quartet tries to find “the many points of intersection.”  All members of the ensemble write, arrange, and perform their original music as well as that from traditional folk music of Africa, Brazil, and Mexico. Completing the ensemble are Geof Bradfield, sax and clarinets; John Wojciechowski, sax and flutes; Clark Sommers, bass.
