ERNEST DAWKINS ORGAN TRIO. A former president of the AACM and founder and leader of New Horizons Ensemble, Ernest Dawkins is an internationally known saxophonist. He has also composed music for the documentary film, Malcolm, and was commissioned to write a three-piece suite honoring Rahsaan Roland Kirk for the King Arts Complex in Columbus, Ohio. Playboy and Chicago Reader critic Neil Tesser has written, “Dawkins’s breezy compositions… employ a boppish vocabulary, but also more recent ideas on harmony and form.” Ernest has recorded eleven CD’s and has his own record label, Dawk. Today he performs with Ben Paterson, organ, and Isaiah Spencer, drums in tributes to Jackie McClean, Stanley Turrentine & Shirley Scott.
