Classically-trained guitarist, FAREED HAQUE has been described as “a gifted virtuoso whose smooth technique and world music-influenced approach to jazz reflect a childhood spent traveling, absorbing local sounds from the musicians of Spain, Pakistan and Iran.” The son of a Pakistani father and Chilean mother, Fareed developed an eclecticism that has become the hallmark of his music. Moving easily between jazz and classical guitar, Fareed’s versatility has created a demand for him with prominent musicians such as Paquito D’Rivera, Dave Holland, Sting, Joe Henderson, Joe Zawinul, Cassandra Wilson, and Kurt Elling, as well as by symphony orchestras in the U.S. and abroad. He has performed all of the major guitar concertos, is an active transcriber of baroque as well as South American music, and has had numerous modern works dedicated to him. Completing the Quartet will be WILLERM DELISFORT, piano; ALEX AUSTIN, bass; and MAKAYA MCCRAVEN, drums.
