Vocalist and actor, MAGGIE BROWN is a Chicago native who made her professional acting and singing debut at the Body Politic Theater. After having studied music, theater and voice at Columbia College, Maggie traveled with her show, Legacy. Her first CD, From My Window, was nominated for Best Jazz CD by the Chicago Music Awards. A protégé of both her father, Oscar Brown, Jr., and Abbey Lincoln, Maggie has developed a unique vocal style that James Walker of www.jazzchicago.net describes as “transcend[ing] limitations and genres, while still maintaining her unique unmistakable voice.” Howard Reich has written that Maggie “stands out for the interpretive depth of her work.” She has been featured with Orbert Davis’s Chicago Jazz Philharmonic at the Auditorium Theatre and can also be heard on many stages and clubs throughout Chicago. BOBBI WILSYN, an Artist-in-Residence at Columbia College Chicago, teaches music and voice-related subjects. Her performance career brought her from hometown, Los Angeles, to Chicago after traveling with the Milt Trenier Show. She soon found a new home, and, as a singer-actress, Bobbi has appeared in Sheldon Patinkin’s, I Didn’t Know What Time It Was and has been the featured jazz-blues vocalist with the Chicago Jazz Ensemble. Sidemen TBA.
