Trumpeter MARQUIS HILL has certainly joined the pride of young lions in Chicago and is already a well-known name on the Chicago jazz scene. Earning a B.A. in Music Education/Jazz Studies, and studying privately at Northern Illinois University, he recently completed his Masters degree in Jazz Pedagogy. He has performed with top artists such as Tito Carrillo, Benny Golson, Rodney Whitaker, Steve Turré, Maurice Brown, Corey Wilkes, and Brian Lynch. Marquis has already toured the U.S and abroad with many different artists and groups including Sirens of Sound, The Delisfort Project, Chicago 12, Bebop Brass, Ronald Carter Big Band, and New Horizons. After displaying “a very thoughtful, mellow command of the tunes that showed off his mellifluous tone and style,”Marquis took 1st place in the International Trumpet Guild Competition this past May. He has just released his 2nd album, Sounds of the City. Marquis will be joined by CHARLIE KIRCHEN on bass and JEREMY CUNNINGHAM on drums.
