One of Chicago’s most popular multi-reedists, PAT MALLINGER left his native Minnesota to attend the Jazz Studies program at North Texas State University. He lived and performed in LA, Dallas, Boston, and Japan before establishing Chicago as his home in 1990. He is a co-founder and co-leader of Sabertooth, which has been playing to capacity crowds at the Green Mill Lounge for 19 years. Pat can also be heard performing with the Chicago Jazz Ensemble, Bobby Lewis Quintet, Art Hoyle Quintet, and his eponymous Pat Mallinger Quartet. An educator at the Music Institute of Chicago, American Conservatory Of Music, and Merit Music, he has been the saxophone mentor in the Ravinia Jazz Mentor Program since its inception in 1994 and a Jazz Mentor in Chicago Public schools in the Louis Armstrong Legacy Project and Celebration program. Pat has performed with internationally known artists such as Stevie Wonder, Herbie Hancock, Ramsey Lewis, and Aretha Franklin.
