Piano (Ragtime)
REGINALD R. ROBINSON. A Chicago native, Reginald was introduced to ragtime through the Urban Gateways program From Bach to Bebop. Reginald taught himself to read and write music by studying books and by comparing note for note transcriptions of ragtime music to piano roll recordings. Today Reginald is a distinguished pianist and composer of ragtime, semi-classical, Latin American, and early jazz and blues styles. Recipient of a MacArthur “genius” award in 2004, Reginald is working on a documentary on the origins and development of ragtime. He has recorded five CD’s, the most recent of which is a 3 disc compilation entitled Reflections. Cerqua Rivera Dancers make a guest appearance.
