RIO BAMBA is a Chicago-based bossa nova combo founded in 2005 by bassist and vocalist, John Garvey. John has played a variety of styles and worked with musicians from John Sinclair (MC5) to Jim Belushi. Meghan McKown, a versatile vocalist, has performed with the legendary Jon Hendricks, as well bassist Rodney Whitaker and trombonist/composer Wycliffe Gordon. Craig Linenberger, an accomplished guitarist and highly regarded private instructor, is equally comfortable playing a jazz solo, performing classical or flamenco guitar. Darryl Warren has played percussion with many jazz and rock bands including The Buckinghams, Dennis Tufano, and Tom Chapin. Drummer Yuri Hevia is a founding member of the Band Raiza, collaborating and recording with musicians from Central and South America.
