Tribute to Classic Miles Davis
ROBERT IRVING III is best known for his tenure as musical director, producer, and keyboardist for the legendary Miles Davis. Robert was one of the musicians who, in the late ’70s and early ’80s, formed the nucleus of Miles Davis’s recording and touring bands. He has also produced three Grammy Award nominated albums—Davis’s Decoy and You’re under Arrest, plus Real Life Story. In addition to leading his own bands, Robert has worked with such jazz notables as Ramsey Lewis, Chick Corea, Regina Carter, and Donald Byrd. With the 2007 release of the well-received New Momentum, Robert has returned to recording under his own name. He is joined by Corey Wilkes, trumpet; Larry Gray, bass; Geof Bradfield, sax, flute, bass clarinet; and Perry Wilson, drums.
