The Business

9:00–10:00pm | James Wagner Stage

Latin Jazz and Mambo

THE BUSINESS was formed 16 years ago by long-time friends who returned to the big brass sound of the 70s after they “decided to walk away from touring, orchestras, studio sessions, and writing music for others.” The Business is led by trumpeter Hector Gonzalez, who studied at the American Conservatory of Music and has toured throughout the United States and internationally. He is joined by his brother, Lou Gonzalez, trumpeter and classically trained French horn player; vocalists Wendy Barbieri and Alex Torres; a member of Chicago’s vibrant Latin scene, Wo Romanowski, saxophonist; Nate Heffron, saxophonist, who has performed and toured with Wynton Marsalis, Steve Turré, and Fareed Haque; Dennis Calito, timbales, and percussionist for Willow Creek Church; Nibandh Nadkarni, keyboard, who began studying classical piano at the age of five; bassist Durane Carter; R&B, Pop & Jazz drummer Keith Frasier; and an original member of The Business, Rich Romanowski, guitar.
