Victor Goines

This year the 9th Annual Hyde Park Jazz Festival Benefit Concert is bringing a little bit of Jazz at the Lincoln Center Orchestra to Hyde Park with the uniquely conceived Victor Goines Quintet featuring Victor Goines (saxophones and clarinet), Elliot Mason (trombone), Peter Martin (piano), Carlos Henriquez (bass), and Herlin Riley (drums). For this very special evening to benefit the Hyde Park Jazz Festival, Victor is bringing some of jazz music’s most dynamic and accomplished musicians to town for the festivities. This is an evening NO jazz lover should miss!

More about the group:
Victor Goines’ jazz career began in his native New Orleans, Louisiana, where he built a name for himself as a saxophonist, clarinetist, composer, arranger, and educator. Today we know him as a tremendous leader, a member of both the Jazz at the Lincoln Center Orchestra and the Marsalis Septet, and here in Chicago as the director of jazz studies at Northwestern University.

He has performed and toured across the globe, collaborating and performing with many noted artists along the way including Ahmad Jamal, Ruth Brown, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Ray Charles, Bob Dylan, Ellis Marsalis, Dianne Reeves, Stevie Wonder, and many more. For more information, click here.
